Maison Février : Plumeria Workshop

Classified as a "Living Heritage Company" (a label recognizing French companies with excellent craft and industrial know-how), Maison Février is the last feather workshop in the world located in the heart of Paris. Created in 1929, it produces sumptuous feather creations (requiring hours of manual labor) for, among others, the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret, to which it belongs since 2009.

Famous feathers

In the field of entertainment, fashion or design, the pieces handcrafted by Maison Février have dressed famous clients such as the "Queen of Music-Hall" Mistinguett or the intrepid Josephine Baker. They also gave wings to Dalida (with a famous ostrich cape) and Vanessa Paradis in the Chanel N°5 ad by Jean Paul Goude.

Today, the collaboration of the almost centennial House with famous French Haute-Couture designers (Dior, Gaultier, Mugler...) allows it to be highlighted by the star models Gigi Hadid and Natalia Vodianova or the singer Rita Ora.
The historic feather factory is also in charge of the daily creation, maintenance and restoration of the 300 costumes used each night on the Moulin Rouge stage and the 3,000 meters of feather boas made each year for its review Féerie.

A reputation that can't be beaten

The feathers used respect the CITES regulations (Washington Convention). They come exclusively from farmed birds and only the moult feathers, brought back through a network of passionate breeders, are used by Maison Février's craftsmen, no bird being raised for its feathers.

Since the 1920s, Maison Février has distinguished itself by two major specialties: the "Fantasy" technique for Haute Couture and the "Ostrich" technique for the production of Boas, the latter having the reputation of being the most sumptuous and durable in the world.

Today, this expertise extends beyond fashion: Maison Février's excellent reputation and ability to push the boundaries of craftsmanship are attracting the art, interior design and entertainment industries.

Think about it when you go to see a show at the Lido or the Moulin Rouge: in addition to impressing you, the artists on stage also bring to life a very French know-how recognized throughout the world.
